Repair Services

Cane

I specialise in the art of furniture caning, reviving cherished yet worn and delicate pieces. Proficient in both traditional hole-to-hole caning and working with pressed cane panels, I look forward to breathing new life into your beloved furniture.

Restoration

I've received training in appropriate, sympathetic and reversible repair and restoration techniques for wooden furniture. Before undertaking any work, I will create a tailored care plan for your piece, outlining how I can address weak joints or restore surface finishes according to your preferences. Your furniture's longevity and aesthetic integrity are my priority.

Advice

Whether you are embarking on a DIY project, or are seeking advice on engaging a skilled professional, I am happy to help. If you have questions about repairs, refinishing, or where to start the restoration process, feel free to drop me an email or a message on social media.

Quotes

My pricing for hand caning is determined by the number of holes drilled into the frame, accounting for the intricacy of panel shapes and desired weaving patterns.
For pressed cane projects, quotes are based on estimated time and required materials.
Restoration and repair work are billed hourly.
To receive an estimate, kindly email me with a detailed description of your project, along with photos from multiple angles and relevant dimensions. I'll provide a prompt estimate, and ensure you are consistently updated on the progress of the project should you decide to move forward with me.

I am fully insured and can provide the certificate on request. I'm usually around the workshop, so feel free give me a call or send me an email to discuss your project.

  • Can you help me with my furniture?
I hope so! The best way to find out is to email me with some pictures and a description of your concerns at nimblenorfolk@gmail.com
  • How much will it cost?
The fastest way for me to quote is if you could please email me some pictures, dimensions, and a description of the areas of concern to nimblenorfolk@gmail.com I would particularly like photos from the front, and also the back and underside of the piece so I can see how the material is attached to the frame.
  • Do you collect and deliver?
With some caveats, yes. I charge half my hourly rate for anything that's longer than an hour's round trip from me to you. Depending on the size of the project, I might also need to hire a van. Please email me at nimblenorfolk@gmail.com to discuss further.
  • Do you offer workshops?
I occasionally offer one-to-one tuition in my Norfolk workshop, and I am working with the Farnham School of Furniture Making in Surrey to offer weekend courses in seat weaving.
  • Can you fix my garden furniture?
Sadly, I can't help with your outdoor furniture. The woven material tends to be plastic, and exposure to the elements seems to cause it to perish. There are kits and epoxy glues available online that you might find helpful for small repairs, but I am unable to give any recommendations.
